This mint condition Hummel 1980 Annual Bell is a third edition in a series of annual bells. Measuring approximately 6 ¼ inches, it offers the #702 “Thoughtful” design in bas relief on the front. This Hummel Goebel bell comes directly from the world’s only authorized producer of Hummel designs. Every authentic piece is back-stamped by Goebel and carries the renowned M.I. Hummel signature. The adorable children, shown in all of Goebel pieces, are from the drawings and paintings of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel, using a palette of eye-catching colors to duplicate the tone and feeling of her artwork. This delightful porcelain bell was painstakingly hand-painted and sculpted. The “Thoughtful” bell features an enchanting little boy, with tousled golden brown hair, wearing a light green shirt underneath a bright orange jacket. A sky-blue neckerchief, brown shorts and light blue socks complete his ensemble. The apple-cheeked, angelic lad is reading a book that is too big for his little lap, but he is making the best of it. He has marked a certain place on one of the pages of the book with his right index finger. The darling little boy’s left index finger is raised toward his chin, as if to say “Hmmm”, it is a thoughtful pose to be sure! On the back of the bell, the date “1980” is in a lovely shade of red, with the M.I. Hummel signature beneath. On the inside are the bell’s information and the blue Goebel stamp, with the copyright date of 1978. This 1980 Hummel Annual Bell is a piece of art that you will treasure for a lifetime!
