On the back of this delightful bell is “1982” in bas relief, with the famous M.I. Hummel signature embossed. The bell is six inches in height and the oval base is four inches across at its widest point. On this Hummel bell’s front is a captivating little boy in a brown Bavarian cap. He is very colorfully dressed in a sky-blue checked shirt, red neckerchief and brown pants. Beside him are beautiful red flowers nesting in a patch of green grass.  This delightful porcelain bell was painstakingly hand-painted and sculpted. The “Thoughtful” bell features an enchanting little boy, with tousled golden brown hair, wearing a light green shirt underneath a bright orange jacket. A sky-blue neckerchief, brown shorts and light blue socks complete his ensemble. The apple-cheeked, angelic lad is reading a book that is too big for his little lap, but he is making the best of it. He has marked a certain place on one of the pages of the book with his right index finger. The darling little boy’s left index finger is raised toward his chin, as if to say “Hmmm”, it is a thoughtful pose to be sure! On the back of the bell, the date “1980” is in a lovely shade of red, with the M.I. Hummel signature beneath. You can readily see that he is at ease, happily sitting in the grass with beautiful orange flowers around him. The cherubic boy holds at his side a brown basket carrying two darling white rabbits. Being carefully held with his left arm, so it doesn’t escape, is a third creamy-white rabbit. The date “1986” is in large red numerals, underneath the child. The famous Hummel signature is set into the plate, curving around the scene and the name of the company is stamped on the back. The little boy’s mouth is open to sing a tune. In his hands is an accordion and perched on its end, is a blue bird with its mouth open, singing along. The date, “1978” is in large red numbers on the back of the bell and at its base is the famous signature, “M.I. Hummel”. Inside the bell, printed in blue is: “First Edition, Annual Bell, HUM700, HANDCRAFTED, Goebel, W. Germany, 1977”.
