This fetching porcelain M.I. Hummel figurine #2002 called “Making New Friends” stands 6.75 inches tall. The adorable figurine is an endearing scene of a little brown-haired boy, with his cheeks a little flushed from the cold, playfully discovering the joys of winter, as he builds a snowman. He is bundled up in a cute lavender jacket and knit hat with pompom, plus matching orange mittens and scarf that is fluttering in the breeze. With his cold weather gear and green pants, he makes quite the colorful picture. The charming boy’s eyes are wide with wonder, as he regards his new snowy friend. He has built his snowman next to a small snow-covered pine tree.

 The lad has done a thorough job in adorning his new friend with four buttons of coal for his “coat”, coal for his eyes and a carrot for his nose. A distinguished black top hat with an orange band and a broom, for the snowman’s right hand, complete the look. As the child puts the finishing touches on his new friend, he is precariously balanced on a wooden sled. She is on her way to make her Christmas delivery of the wrapped presents, sitting on the back of the sled, replete with ribbons and bows. You can readily see that he is at ease, happily sitting in the grass with beautiful orange flowers around him. The cherubic boy holds at his side a brown basket carrying two darling white rabbits. Being carefully held with his left arm, so it doesn’t escape, is a third creamy-white rabbit. The date “1986” is in large red numerals, underneath the child. The famous Hummel signature is set into the plate, curving around the scene and the name of the company is stamped on the back.
